OUR QUALITIES

At DAWN x DARE, we work exclusively with carefully selected, certified yarns. All of our hand knits are made from mohair blends, sourced with responsibility and traceability in mind.

We believe that the value of a garment starts with the quality of its material. That’s why we only work with partners who meet the highest standards for animal welfare, environmental protection and social responsibility.

MOHAIR

All of our hand knits are made with certified mohair yarn.

Mohair is a natural fibre spun from the fleece of the Angora goat. It is soft, strong and highly durable, and because it is a renewable resource, mohair is also considered a sustainable choice. The goats are shorn twice a year, and their fleece grows back, creating a cycle that supports long-term use without depletion.

Mohair is biodegradable and requires significantly less chemical processing than many synthetic fibres. It is breathable, insulating, and holds colour beautifully.

All mohair used in our collections comes from farms certified under the Responsible Animal Fiber (RAF) standard, which ensures proper animal welfare and responsible land management.
However, as with any textile, the sustainability of mohair can depend on farming practices, so it's important to support producers who prioritize ethical and environmentally friendly methods.

ORGANIC COTTON

Some of our hand knits and woven styles are made from organic cotton yarns that are GOTS-certified.

GOTS stands for Global Organic Textile Standard and is the world’s leading certification for sustainable and socially responsible cotton production.

A GOTS-certified yarn guarantees:

  • Traceability throughout the entire supply chain
  • Organic origin of the raw material
  • Low environmental impact during processing
  • Respect for workers' rights and working conditions
  • No child labour, discrimination or harmful chemicals

CID CERTIFICATION

We also work with yarns sourced through the Italian Detox Implementation Consortium (CID).
This initiative is committed to eliminating the use of highly polluting and toxic substances in the textile industry - protecting both people and the environment from harmful chemical exposure.
